The System

Chapter 1

Did you know that it hurts, dear?
Seizures of vision just lasting a second,
And years of silence all dressed in flattery,
Looks that fulfilled, what roses could not,
And paper with hands
And glass with teeth.
Crafting a single note from frustration,
And swimming with pleasure-mint lies,
Was not enough for the cave,
With its walls of hungry despair,
Bullet the liquid sky,
Lie with the fallen,
Watch yourself sleep,
Follow the crow,
Syringe the syndrome,
This is the system.
