Shove Me in Your Corner Tonight (Poem)

Chapter 1

by: Marfabu
I am the child of darkness and sin,
Mixed together with a little tonic and gin.
And when the sun shines down on me just right,
You'll shove me in the corner tonight.

Hidden from light so you won't have to see,
The reflection in my eyes that shows you me.
But when the sun shines down on me just right,
You'll shove me in the corner tonight.

You backed me into the corner again,
Showing me that I am the child of darkness and sin,
Mixed together with a little tonic and gin.
But the sun didn't shine down on me just right,
So you kept me out right in plain sight.

I was the friend you promised to keep,
Secrets and lies that we never once leaked.
But when the sun shone down on me just right,
You shoved me in the corner that night.

So I hid in the corner until the first bell,
With the promise of stories that you would soon tell.
But since the sun shone on me just right,
You never let me out of the corner that night.

I was never once let out of your sight,
Locked in the corner until the fading of light.
I forgot what the sun felt like,
So I stayed in that corner all through the night.

I was the child of darkness and sin,
Mixed together with a little tonic and gin.
But when I felt the sun's first rays,
I spread my wings and took flight again.
