The Bridesmaid (Poem)
Chapter 1
__________________________
Every little girl dreams of her wedding
The big white gown
The soft ivory shoes
The satin look of the flowers in her hand
But nobody cares about the one who isn’t married
The one who is in the ceremony
The one who helps out
The one who observes
In essence, there are some people who will experience weddings
The ones that won’t.
The ones that will observe
The ones that participate.
She waits to be the one that catches the bouquet
The lucky one.
The one that will be married next.
The happy one.
All she wants is her own wedding
The cheers are for her
The toast is for her
The celebration is hers to plan.
She is loved and celebrated.
Wanted.
Because nobody loves a bridesmaid.
The big white gown
The soft ivory shoes
The satin look of the flowers in her hand
But nobody cares about the one who isn’t married
The one who is in the ceremony
The one who helps out
The one who observes
In essence, there are some people who will experience weddings
The ones that won’t.
The ones that will observe
The ones that participate.
She waits to be the one that catches the bouquet
The lucky one.
The one that will be married next.
The happy one.
All she wants is her own wedding
The cheers are for her
The toast is for her
The celebration is hers to plan.
She is loved and celebrated.
Wanted.
Because nobody loves a bridesmaid.

This is very lovely. Five stars
Wonderful poem, Em! Reading about this gave me an entirely perspective. Bravo!
Thank you Lila!
I really liked it! Kind of sad that nobody loves the bridesmaid. But the poet's pretty true.
Ouch, I gotta say that's true. Sometimes bridemaid aren't necessary, but they often are there. It's a great poem, Emily. :D I gave you five stars.
In all honesty, I'd really like to be any of my friends' bridesmaid. I'd care about it a heap. To me personally, marriage isn't even that important either. I'm more than happy to celebrate someone else's, though. (Not to mention how much crãp I sometimes get for saying marriage isn't essential to me.)
Thank you!!
Beautiful poem!
