The Ex's Best Friend (One Direction Fanfiction)

The whole intro won't fit into this little box, so just read the first chapter. Thanks :)

Chapter 1

Intro and Prologue.

Jennifer White is a brilliant girl from London. Aside from studying, her favorite thing to do is spend time with her boyfriend, Harry. When Harry leaves to audition for X Factor, he promises Jennifer that he will be back in a matter of weeks. Jennifer waits and waits, but Harry never shows up. She decides to forget about him and continue to focus on getting into one of the best schools in England, Manchester University. When she eventually gets in, she meets a sweet girl named Eleanor Calder and they quickly become friends. Eleanor introduces Jennifer to her boyfriend Louis and his friend Zayn. Zayn and Jennifer seem to get along well, and eventually start dating. When Zayn introduces Jennifer to the rest of his band, she is both shocked and upset.

"Good luck, Harry. I'll see you soon," I say, hugging him.

"You're sure you can't come?" he asks.

"You know that if I could be there with you, I would. But this trip could get me into Uni, and I really need this."

"But, you're my good luck charm."

"You'll still do great. You're talented and what you can do with your voice has nothing to do with me."

"I'll miss you, though."

"It'll just be a few weeks. We'll live." I hug him once more and he kisses my temple.

"Well, I'll see you then," he says. He smiles and walks down to his car. I walk back inside and sit on the couch, flipping through channels on the telly. There's absolutely nothing on. I finally find something and sit back. I hear a knock on the door.

"Really? I was just getting comfortable," I mumble. I get up and open the door, only to be greeted by a pair of lips pressing onto mine.

"I forgot to give you a goodbye kiss," Harry says. I can't help but smile.

"You're cute. Now, leave before you make me cry!" I giggle. Harry laughs and walks back outside. I watch him climb into his car and pull out of the driveway, then disappear down the street. I sigh and sit back on the couch.

I felt empty inside. I couldn't wait for him to be back. I didn't know how I could live without him for a few weeks. Little did I know, it would actually be years before I got to see him again, and when I did, I would have to make a huge decision that I was not ready to make.
