Chapter 1

Nothing's going to change my world

"ELEANOR JULIE RIGBY!" My mother stormed up the stairs that lead up to my attic room. I looked outside the only window in my room the showed me the drag suburban town I sadly lived in for 18 years. " What are you doing, you're supposed to be at school in 5 minutes. Now I know you're a senior but I expect you to have gotten use to being on time!" She walked over to me handing me my books. I took one last look outside before walking across my room to the stairs, catching a quick glance at my red curly hair I somehow got from two brunette parents."Remember the family is coming over tonight for Thanksgiving!" Mother shouts from above me."Can't wait!" I sarcastically reply slamming the door. Walking outside, I sign in disgust of seeing the perfect lawns that hold the identical houses that house the perfect suburban family. It's disgusting really, how perfect they make this place seem while a war is going on. I push away that thought for now while I quicken my pace. The first bell rings as I cross the lawn of Moonlight Bay High School. Now running in the halls in my ankle boots, I manage to grab the door to Mr. Mustard's classroom as the final bell rings."It seems you were successful Mrs.Rigby in entering my class before the door locked but not however before the final bell, 1 hour detention after school." Mr.Mustard says beginning to write on the board. The class snickers as I take my seat in the back. Yeah right like I'm going to waste 1 hour of my life in this he!! hole. "Did you know that you're supposed to be here before the bell Rigby?" Ken Parkinson, the most annoying and idiotic jock you'll ever meet, whispered behind me." And did you know Parkinson that during basketball the ball goes in the basket?" Referring to the lost of the national game we held a week ago in which Ken over shot in the last seconds costing us the win. He's so called 'friends' laugh and whisper burn around us getting Mr.Mustard attention."Mrs. Rigby stop talking and take off that hat you look like a hippie." The class laughs as I reply " No, it represents me." "Mrs.Rigby remove the hat you are disrupting the class!" Mr.Mustard says raising his voice."May I point out Mr. Mustard that YOU'RE the one who pointed out my hat, the class was perfectly fine till YOU disrupted the class by asking me to remove my hat." The class snickers at my reply. "MRS-" Mustard starts but is over interrupted with the sound of a fire drill bell going off."Right bring your things, in a line now!"
"You said that?!" My shocked friend Rita asked while we stood outside waiting to go back inside from the prank fire alarm."What else was I suppose to say?" I replied crossing my arms."How about yes sir and let it be?!" "Rita you don't have any balls you need more excitement and thrill in your life or else you're going to end up like the jocks and preps where their definition of excitement is a prep rally and a basketball game." I laugh."Ugh kill me before I attend a prep rally." Rita laughs shooting her brains out with an imaginary gun."Since we have caught the pranksters for pulling the fire alarm taking up most of your morning, it's time for lunch A." Principal Pam announced looking irritated after having to track down the pranksters for a solid hour."Thank god we have lunch A." Rita sighs as we headed back inside.
After 4 more hours of torture, we finally were let out. Finding Rita by our lockers, we joined the massive crowd squishing their way through the front doors."Look at us we're like cattle to them." Rita says pointing to the teachers leaning against a brick wall smoking the pain of being here away."MAX!" A girl pushes through Rita and I making us fall scatting our books and paper everywhere."That's ok seems you're more important than us your highness!!" I shout back looking out to see the girl known as Lucy Carrigan hugging someone."Of course it would be Lucy Carrigan, she's the top prep of them all." Rita grumbles as we pick our things up heading down toward the street. Getting a better look, the man that hugged Lucy was her brother, Max Carrigan, I figured but he was with someone else, a man with brown shaggy hair looked around Max's age. I've known the Carrigans from my mom and dad's country club party's which I sadly was dragged to every year. Lucy was the perfect daughter every parent wanted including mine but Max was another story rebellious like me he consolingly pissed his parents off from school to just the stuff he talked about. That's what I loved about him not mentioning his amazing looks. I glanced over and caught Max's eye. Something clicked as I stared at his blue eyes, a feeling of time stopping and the world dimming away only focusing on you two, the feeling of seeing your true love."Eleanor come on!" Rita snapped her fingers in my face having me lose grip of that wonderful feeling. I looked back at Max as Rita dragged me away and saw also he looked back at me. I gave a quick wave as he did they same still having a dazed look."Why were you staring at Max Carrigan like that?" Rita asked."I'm in love Rita." I say smiling."Haha for Christ sake Eleanor you've never talked to him while he lived here and the only time you every made eye contact with that kid is now!" "But I'm in love Rita!" "There's no such thing can't you see that," Rita pulls me ahead down the streets gesturing toward some kids from school walking alone. She begins to sing;
"Ah, look at all the lonely people
Ah, look at all the lonely people

Eleanor Rigby, picks up the rice
in the church where a wedding has been
Lives in a dream. Rita pokes my cheek continuing

Waits at the window, wearing the face
that she keeps in a jar by the door
Who is it for?" Pulling me down the street
She begins twirling

"All the lonely people
Where do they all come from?
All the lonely people
Where do they all belong?
We began to run straight down the road

"Father McKenzie, writing the words
of a sermon that no one will hear
No one comes near
Look at him working, darning his socks
in the night when there's nobody there
What does he care
We began the next verse together

"All the lonely people
Where do they all come from?
All the lonely people
Where do they all belong?

Ah, look at all the lonely people
Ah, look at all the lonely people
We run down our street

"Eleanor Rigby, died in the church
and was buried along with her name
Nobody came
Father McKenzie, wiping the dirt
from his hands as he walks from the grave
No one was saved
We again sing the verse together as we come down my driveway

"All the lonely people
Where do they all come from?
All the lonely people
Where do they all belong."
"You see my point Eleanor, they're are always lonely people we're meant o be them you're not in love." Rita says patting me on the back before leaving. She's wrong I felt something in the few seconds Max Carrigan and I had.
