Dark World, Light Heart (A Zak Bagans Story)
SOOO... I am doing this for a contest by Mistress_Bagans. I just love her, I don't know anybody else who likes Zak Bagans like she does :) So enjoy my little story, I don't plan on winning but I do plan on having a ton of fun writing this story (and imagining that the character is me...)
I don know what Nick's wife's name is, so lets just say that its Emily. She looks like an Emily to me :)
Character and Planning First Lockdown
Name : Ashlyn Groff
Age : 27 (birthday March 25)
Family : Was never really close to mother and father. Brother : Nick Groff
Personality : kind of shy at first, loves to write, more than anything. She never falls in love because of her broken heart, long story. She is in love with the paranormal and knows a ton about it, but doesn't let anybody know, even her brother.
Looks : Like a girl version of her brother. Average height, dark brown eyes, long brown hair, really thin. Pale-ish skin, never wears makeup unless she absolutely has to.
PLANNING FIRST LOCKDOWN
"Hey, Nick! " I called as my brother Nick walked into the house. I was cooking with Emily, his wife, while Annabelle was watching us from the kitchen table, playing with her cheerios.
"Ashlyn, Emily, Annabelle, " he smiled as he kissed each one of us on the cheek. I pulled him into a hug and took off his hoodie. He was always wearing it when he came home from a lockdown.
"So... what happened? Anything interesting? Do we get any spoiler alerts before the show airs? " I sang, stirring the spaghetti sauce.
"Well, I have to say... this episode was a bit uneventful. We're still going to air it, we have enough evidence." Nick sighed. "But... I have a surprise for you, Ashlyn." He smiled, and I instantly became optimistic. He always brought Emily a souvenir from his travels, but never me. My optimism wore off as I saw him pull a paper out of his travel bag and held it out toward me. He seemed really excited, so I acted like I was excited as well. I gave a geeky smile and unfolded the paper. There was a note, very pretty handwriting, a bit messy. The note read...
from the desk of GAC
My name is Zak Bagans. I'm sure that you've heard of me from Nick, otherwise I must be a bad person. I wanted to deliver this to you myself, but I had to take my dog to the vet, so I gave this to Nick. I have heard a lot about you from your brother and I have a proposition for you. I would like you to accompany us on our next lockdown. I will give you the information if you accept. Don't worry about finances, the network pays for hotel and flight.
Hope to hear back,
I looked up at Nick. He was grinning wildly, and I returned it. I jumped onto his arms, yelling "Yes! Yes! Yes! " until I was sure he was close to becoming deaf.
"All right, then, I'll call Zak and we can start planning the lockdown. Any ideas? " Nick said.
"Ill think about it, but my mind is a bit off right now... I think I need to go lay down, or I might faint..." I laughed maniacally. I waved goodbye to Nick, Emily, and Annabelle, and closed the door to my bedroom, plopping on the bed and instantly falling asleep.
I woke up the next morning, hearing voices coming from the living room.
"She seemed really excited about it." I heard Nick say.
"Yeah... she almost fainted." Emily laughed.
"She seems cool, from what Nick has told us." A voice I instantly recognized as Aaron Goodwin said.
"Well, good. Em, you wanna go wake her up? We need to start planning." Another voice said. I knew that voice by heart. Zak Bagans.
"No need. I'm awake." I yawned. I poked my head in. There he was. Zak freaking Bagans was sitting on my couch. I studied him - tall, muscular, dark hair, deep, almost ebony eyes... I smiled at him and he smiled back. I suddenly started to feel self-concious. My long brown hair was all messed up and I was in my shabby pajamas, a basketball Jersey and a pair of shorts.
"Come on, Ashlyn. I don't bite." Zak laughed. I then realized that the only seat left unoccupied was right next to Zak. I awkwardly laughed and sat down. He put his arm around me and Nick glared at him. Zak shifted and put his arm down.
"So... the lockdown." Zak said in an unusually deep voice. "Where are we going to go? "
I fell asleep. I had slept for hours but I felt like I hadn't slept at all. I had no idea what they were saying, I woke up to somebody pushing on my shoulder.
