Chapter 1

A New Route

Dustin was a typical sixteen year old high schooler. Everyone at school knew him as Dusty. He was also known as a geek and the kid who got good grades and liked it. Dusty never had a girlfriend but he did have his best friend Pete. They had been best friends as long as he could remember.

Today was like any other except today was assembly day. Which meant everyone had to attend. Dusty hated assembly days. He much rather spend a day in class any day. The assembly always took up the last two class periods as usual.
Dusty was glad it was finally over. Everyone excited the gymnasium and headed for the buses. Except for Dusty he always walked home. On his usual walk he decided to finally try out that new shortcut he had designed. This shortcut was right by the pier.

Dusty was walking by the shipyard where they stored cargo crates when out of the corner of his eye he saw some men in yellow protective suits carrying some toxic chemicals. He let his curiosity get the best of him. He just had to get a closer look.

It was illegal to dump chemicals into the ocean. He just had to know what they were going to do with them. Dusty found a hole in the fence and squeezed through. He hid behind one of the enormous crates.

"Watch where you are going with those!" Shouted a large man in a grey business suit. That must be the boss thought Dusty.
One of the men tripped and the boxes of chemicals he was carrying dropped and splattered every where.
Dusty was so close to the scene that some of the chemicals fell on his skin.

He yelled in agony. The few drops that hit his skin burned like crazy. "Who's there?" shouted the boss. Dusty got up as quick as he could and ran towards the fence.

"After him!" Shouted the boss again. A bunch of men jumped the fence and tried to run after Dusty but he was no where to be seen.
"Sorry boss we lost him." Said one of the men. "Sorry isn't good enough we need to find that kid and do what ever it takes."
