Chapter 1

The Hogwarts Express

FINALLY I was going to Hogwarts! I had counted down the days on my calendar and had my bags packed two weeks in advance. "So, I just run at the wall?" I asked my Dad. "Yes, son. Now, have a good year and don't forget to write." He said pulling me into a one-armed hug. "Kay, dad. Love you." I said and he walked away. I gripped my cart and started running. There was a moment of darkness, but a second later I ended up on the other side of the platform. I smiled wide as I layed my eyes on The Hogwarts Express. There were students everywhere. Most students were saying goodbye to their parents. One boy, I noticed, was completely ignoring his mother as she yelled at him. I couldn't quite catch what she was saying. I stopped dead in my tracks when I got a good look at what the boy looked like. He had wavy black hair that reached just above his shoulders and peircing grey eyes. He had strong features and a bored expression. I watched as he rolled his eyes and walked away from his mother. I was stunded for a second but I shook my head and boarded the train.
I spent a long while looking for a compartment that wasn't full. I came across one that had two people in it. I slid open the door and they both turned to look at me. I was about to ask them if I could sit, but I reconized the boy on the left. He was the boy arguing with his mother on the platform. I stood with my mouth slightly open, probably looking like an idiot. "Dude, you alright?" He asked me. "What? Oh, Y-yes! I'm fine. D-do you mind if I sit? Everywhere else is full." I said awkwardly. "Yeah, sure." He said. I walked in and put my bags in the luggage compartment. "So, what's your name?" He asked me as I sat down across for him. "James," I said quietly. "Cool, I'm Sirius," He said pointing to himself. "And that's Remus." He said pointing to the boy next to me. He raised a hand and smiled at me. I smiled back. He had lots of scars on his face. I was about to ask him how he got them, but thought better of it. "What house do you want to be in?" Sirius asked me. "Gryffindore," I said proudly. "Just like my father." Sirius smiled at me. I could've melted right then and there. "Me too," He said. "But my mother wants me to be in Slytherin." His face fell. "I think I'd go home if I was put in Slytherin." I said. "Yea, me too," He said. "But then I'd have to deal with my mother." I giggled. He smiled then turned to Remus. "So, Remus, what house do you want to be in?" He asked. Remus shrugged and said "Gyrffindore, I guess. Ravenclaw sounds good, too." He said staring absentmindedly out the window. Sirius nodded. "So... What happened to your face, Remus?" Sirius asked suddenly. My jaw dropped a little. Remus smirked evily and said "Werewolf." My jaw dropped again. "Don't lie, b^tch!" Sirius said putting on a fake pimp voice. "I'm not!" Remus said still smiling. "So, are you-?" I started. "A werewolf, yeah." Remus finished. "Cool," Sirius said. "Do me a favor and don't tell anyone." Remus said. "Yes, sir!" Sirius said. Remus turned to me. "Yeah, sure." I shrugged. Wow, I had just met a werewolf...
We sat talking for a long time, we didn't even notice how dark it was getting. "We'll be there soon," Remus said checking his watch. "We should change into our robes." I nodded. We changed in silence. We talked for a little while longer until we felt the train slow down. We grabbed our luggage and filed out of the train with the other students.
"Firs' years! Firs' years over here!" A voice called. I looked over and saw a man that could have been a half-giant. "No more then four to a boat!" He called to the students. Remus, Sirius and I climbed into a boat. I saw a girl with strawberry blonde hair walking over to us. "Is is cool if I ride with you guys?" she asked. She looked way too old to be a first year, she looked at least thirteen or fourteen and was talled then me. She had a fairly pretty face dotted with freckles. Her hair was boy short in the back with fringe hanging over one eye. The eye that I could see was smudged with red makeup that made it look as though her eye was bleeding. "S-sure," Sirius said almost in awe. She climbed in. "So, what's your name?" Remus asked. She screwed up her face and looked toward the sky. "Elbow Mac & Cheese-aroni, Fluffly White Bunny Rabbit," she said finally. I raised an eybrow. "Are you sure that's your real name?" Sirius giggled. "It's not, that's just what my mom calls me." She shrugged. "Well, what's your real name?" Sirius asked. "Ella, but you can call me El." She said. "Cool," Sirius said. "I'm Sirius, that's James, and that's Remus." he said pointing to each one of us. "Nice to meet you all!" She said leaning up against the edge of the boat. "What's your guys' blood status?" she asked. "Pure blood." Sirius said sourly. "Pure blood." I said. "Half blood." Remus said. "I'm Muggle born!" she said proudly. "How do you know about blood status' if your Muggle born?" I asked. "I met this guy in Diagon Alley who started talking at me about how great he is because he's pure blood, I didn't know what he meant at first, but then he explained. I told him he was a prick and walked away." She said. Sirius laghed. He as the greatest laugh, it's so cute. Ella pulled something out of the pocket of her robes and started unwinding some wires. She put something in her ear and fiddled with some buttons. "What's that?" I asked. "It's my iPod." she said. We raised our eyebrows in unison. She giggled. "It plays music!" She smiled. "Here," She said scooting closer to Remus and puting something in his ear. "See, it's electronic," She said showing him the screen. "The music travles through these wires and comes out of the earbuds." Ella said trailing her finger up the wire and poking Remus' cheek. Remus giggled and put a hand to his cheek. "You buy songs of your computer and load them onto here." She said. She closed her eyes and nodded her head along to the music. "This thing won't work once we get into Hogwarts," Remus said. "The magic will overpower it." She opened her eyes and looked at him. "That's not fair!" she said. "It's not my fault!" Remus said holding up his hands in surender. Sirius and I laughed at them. I glanced over at Sirius to find him staring at me. Oh god, his eyes! It's like you could just fall right into them. I looked down at my lap and blushed.
After a while, the castle came into veiw. "Wow," Ella said staring in awe. We came to the edge of the lake and got off the boats. "Ella!" I hear. We all turn around and to see a girl with dark red hair running towards us. "Lily?!" Ella said running at the girl and wrapping her in a hug. We watched as the two girls hugged for a long time. When they finally let go of each other, they quickly kissed on the lips. Sirius and Remus' mouths dropped open as the two girls walked back over to us. Ella had her arm around Lily's shoulders and Lily had her arm around Ella's waist. "What are you guys staring at?" Ella smiled. No one said anything. "They probably think we're lesbians." Lily said quietly to Ella. "You- you aren't?" Srius asked. "Of course not, silly!" Ella said rolling her eyes. "Oh, good," Remus said. "Why is that good? Would you have a problem with me if I was a lesbian?" Ella said getting defencive. "W-what? No! N-nevermind..." Remus said blushing. "Well then everything's fine and dandy! Let's go, we're gunna be late for the sorting!" Ella said walking up the steps, not letting go of Lily.
