My 24 Days of Thanksgiving
Starting now and going until Thanksgiving Day, I will be posting one new thing (or group of things) that I am thankful for. I'll send out invites every day with the title changed to whatever day it is, so you can follow along.
Comment with what you are thankful for, or create your own story full of your 24 Days of Thanksgiving. :)
I am thankful for... people.
Family, friends, neighbors, strangers... and yes, even annoying, frustrating people who don't pay attention, drive badly, and make my life difficult. Without people, I would not know how to be patient, cooperate, or love :)
I am thankful for... technology and modern conveniences.
I do not have to spend so much time washing dishes and clothes, waiting for letters to be sent to a friend, or walk across town to an activity. Instead, I can use that time to learn more, have deeper connections with people, and enjoy life outside of the necessities.
I am thankful for... books.
Books that make me laugh, books that make me cry. Books that make me think, books that make me dream.
I am thankful for... the rain!
It doesn't come around as often as I'd like, but maybe that's what makes me appreciate it more. (And someday, I will live in a place where it rains a lot!)
I am thankful for... my parents.
For the relationship we have, for the way they have raised me, for the conversations we've had, for all the money they've loaned me over the years, for all the meals they've made, and for every time they've driven me to my various activities. They could still hold off on the chores and homework, but for the most part... I think they turned out okay :)
I am thankful for... the time change.
I don't know why, but it's nice to think that I have an "extra hour." :D
I am thankful for... music and those talented enough to make it.
Music is a part of my every day life. Like a book, it can inspire me to think and to dream. It can relieve my stress or lift up my spirits. It gives me something to do on a long car ride. It helps me focus on my studies, sometimes. It has reinforced my belief in God. Rock, rap, pop, alternative, classical, broadway, techno... you name it.... I love music! (Just not country. I can't stand country.)
I am thankful for... my education.
I wasn't always that appreciative; in fact, I used to hate school. Now, I'm so blessed to know the things I know and to continue to learn about the world around me.
I am thankful for... how privileged I am to live here in America, with a stable house and family, plentiful food and opportunities to make my future the way I want it to be.
I am thankful for... my pets.
I am thankful that of all the kitties at the SPCA, Luna was the one that stood out; I am thankful that my parents decided to bring Tonka home for Christmas; I am thankful that the neighborhood "mamma cat" gave birth to Fluffy and Junie in our backyard and that my dad let us keep them. Now, I have a dog to greet me every time I come home, and cats to keep me company both inside and outside. They all bring a smile to my face, and even make me laugh. I can't imagine life without them!
I am thankful for... the military.
For every soldier in service and out of it, whether serving on the frontlines or working behind the scenes. They are my heroes.
I am thankful for... the library.
I can read any book, watch any movie, listen to (almost) any CD... and I can get them all at my local library! :D
I am thankful for... the amazing design of our bodies!
I love how everything works perfectly together; how each bone, muscle, organ, system, cell, etc., has a unique function.... I also love how when we get sick or injured, there are ways for the body to heal itself (usually). God designed us so well, and I am so thankful to be studying this design this year in science!
I am thankful for... David McCullough, Glenn Beck, Richard J. Maybury, Alex & Brett Harris, Jamie Oliver, Lecrae, Oprah Winfrey, Dave Ramsey, George Lucas, Cesar Milan, Eric & Leslie Ludy, Matt Thiessen, Trevor McNevan, Mom & Dad, and every other person who has ever inspired me to be a smarter, stronger, more helpful, less selfish, and all around better person. THANK YOU!
I am thankful for... British television!
I love being able to experience some of their culture through the amazing shows they produce. America has some good TV, granted, but there's just something about the BBC that fills me with joy!
I am thankful for... the people who get it.
The people who truly understand where the wrong is in this world, and understand what needs to be done to fix it. I am thankful that they are able to form their thoughts into sensible words, and that they actively seek reform, thought they may be few in number. I am thankful for all the times that I am able to come across these people and hear what they have to say. I am thankful for all of those "ah ha!" moments that help me to grow in my own wisdom.
I am thankful for... answered prayers, and unanswered ones.
I am thankful that I can pray any time, any where, for anything. :)
I am thankful for... rest.
I am thankful for vacation.
I am thankful for breaks... and most especially when they are all well deserved and needed.
I am thankful for... my best friend.
Our friendship began all the way back in the 1st grade, and has lasted since, despite not going to the same school or church or any group. After all these years, I can still depend on her to fulfill all the duties of a best friend and more... and I am honored to do the same for her! I love this girl and am SO thankful God brought our lives together!
I am thankful for... creativity.
For inspiration, for thoughts, for ideas, for imagination.
I am thankful for... my laptop
I'm thankful that it has survived this long (and will probably keep on chugging until I get enough money to buy a new one). It has served me well over these many years in a variety of ways. And on that note, I am thankful for the internet and the many functions it has, too! :D
I am thankful for... all of my friends.
Old and new, younger and older, boy and girl. I am thankful for every interaction, conversation, etc. that we've had, and am amazed at how these relationships have grown over time. Sadly, not all of my friends in the past are my friends today, and who knows who will be my friends in the future... but I know everything happens for a reason and I am thankful for it all.
Also, I am thankful for the friends I have here on Quibblo, too. Even though we don't know each other in real life, and our interactions are limited to random messages and quiz comments... I value all of you as a "real" friend and am thankful to have you in my life, even in a small way :)
I am thankful for... all the things I do not have time to mention.
I know my life is the way it is for a reason, good and bad, and I am thankful for it all! :)
Last, but most certainly not least, I am most thankful for... my salvation through Jesus Christ!
I am so not deserving of such a gift. Jesus went through all of that pain and suffering for me?! And even after I screw up and make mistakes and forget and give in to temptations... He still loves me. sigh How amazing!
