Chapter 1

I Don't Know What To Think

I remember holding you in my arms when you were sad. When your father beat you and you came straight to me. We were little then, but it still meant a great deal to me.
You came to see me as often as you could. Whenever you could. I felt special. You made me feel that way.
We were the best of friends. Inseperable. We both even moved to Los Angeles together. You became so famous, so loved by many in such a short time. You became the best singer with the work of just one album.
I made my way up into the acting department. Finally I landed a major role that would shoot me straight to stardom. And before I left to go on set in a few weeks, there was something I wanted to tell you. That I love you. And I want to be with you.

I sat down on Michael's couch in the living room. I had to admit I was a little nervous. I never really express my emotions to anyone.
Michael sat down in front of me smiling.
So far so good. I thought to myself.
"How are you?" he asked starting the conversation first. "I haven't seen you in a while."
"I have been good, doing really well actually. I came here to tell you something though." I said.
My fingers fumbled with my shirt.
"I-" I started but then another woman walked into the room and stood behind Michael.
Michael followed my gaze.
"Oh. Elizabeth. This is Lisa Marie. My girlfriend." Michael introduced us.
His girlfriend. The thought sank in my mind, ten dropped like a weight in my heart.
Lisa the girlfriend put a smile on her face and extended her hand.
"Hi. Michael has told me so much about you."
She seemed friendly enough. But the thought of her as his girlfriend made me sad. But as long as he was happy, it didn't matter to me. I thought sadly.
I stretched my lips into a smile hiding my emotions. Then shook her hand.
"So what was it, you wanted to tell me?" Michael asked me interested in my news.
"I just wanted to say that I landed a major role." I said still smiling.
And that I love you. I added in my mind.
"Thats great!" he said.
He got up and hugged me warmly. Which didn't help me at all.
"Well I better get going." I said getting up and walking towards the door.
"Well good luck." Michael called after me. "I call you later!"
I walked to my car and started the engine. I stared at the road holding back all my emotions until I got home.
