Harry Potter - The Next Generation

Harry Potter - The Next Generation

Voldemort is dead and it has been years since Harry Potter and his friends were studying at Hogwarts. However, in the years gone by Hogwarts has become a much darker and mysterious place. There is trouble in the wizarding world and you get to see Albus Potter, Rose Weasley and Scorpius Malfoy deal with their already horror-struck 5th year at the Hogwarts castle.
I will also include other Next Generation characters.

Chapter 1

Scorpius Malfoy - The Wandering Soul

(Note!: I have changed James to Albus, so now James is a Gryffindor and Albus is a Slytherin and I've added some parts in, so instead of skipping to the newer chapters, you may want to re-read it even if you've read it before. Thanks!)

It was dreadfully cold in the boys' dorm but Scorpius Malfoy was oblivious to the draft creeping in through a small crack in the wall. Hogwarts was still a grand, magical school but the secrets, lies and constant wearing of time had started to show in the magnificent structure. Scorpius had no idea how long he had been standing next to his bed, staring out the window at the falling snow that was settling on the stripped trees and frozen grass while the rest of the students were dining in the Great Hall. Time always passed like this now, ever since his mother left Draco -his father- for another man two years past; for a rich muggle who worked for the government.
Scorpius shivered as the cold crept under his shirt and wrapped it's talons around his slim, pale body while his gaze gradually wandered around the dimly lit room, focusing on the small clues of how life was at Hogwarts years ago, the stories still seemed to be etched onto the now lifeless, harsh stone walls. All of the charm and splendour that his father had described, despite his spiteful tasks and Voldemort's hold over the wizarding world, had surely left this castle many years ago.
It was Scorpius' fifth year at Hogwarts and he was already fed up with schooling. With only four weeks before his seventeenth birthday Scorpius could not be less enthusiastic. Another birthday, another year living a pointless and lethargic life with two friends who probably didn't even enjoy his company anyway... Scorpius heard a small clunk of a latch unlocking in the door and turned to see who it was who had interrupted his thinking process. It was Albus Severus Potter, one of his friends and a fellow Slytherin. He should have been dining with the rest of the students but he had obviously noticed his friend's absence and decided to see what his mysterious companion was up to.
The tall dark haired boy carelessly walked over to Scorpius and placed an encouraging hand on his shoulder and urged him to sit down. Scorpius obeyed but then propped his elbows on his knees and hung his head in his hands, only the scraggly dark blonde hair hanging loose around his face. Albus shifted to a more comfortable position as he fixed Scorpius with an intense gaze, which never failed to unnerve him, especially when he looked back into those sharp green eyes, his own blue eyes masked in pain and misery. There was not normally a single thing those foresty green eyes missed.
"Why aren't you in the hall eating? You are wasting away and you need the energy. I am getting rather concerned for you." Albus informed Scorpius whilst joining him on the thin, uncomfortable bed.
"I could ask you the same thing, Al." Scorpius mumbled into his palms and Albus had a hard time trying to decipher what he was saying.
"I came to find you. I thought you needed some space but Rose insisted that I should go talk to you."
The mention of Rose Weasley's name made Scorpius look up, and taking a deep breath, he regained composure and leaned back against the wall. Albus did the same and knew that it was the minor cite of Rose that had given Scorpius back some of his will power. Scorpius is a proud, considerate person and it was only in the last few months that he really started to go downhill.
"She asked you to come and talk to me?" Scorpius quizzed but carried on before Albus could reply, "She needs not be concerned as I am as fine as ever. In fact, things are looking up for me now," Scorpius shrugged as if in defeat.
"Good, I'm glad. You really should go and get something to eat, 'cause I'm going back to keep Rose company" Albus put in.
"Don't forget to mention eat more."
" Oh yes, and eat some more. The food sure is delicious today..." Albus attempted to lure Scorpius away from the dorm by stating what food was on offer.
"Uh-huh, sounds nice. I'll make my way down there soon."
With that Albus smiled sadly, knowing his friend when he was trying to let him down lightly, and regretfully walked back to the hall alone.
Scorpius had lied.
