I actually wrote a deabte paper about why parents shouldn't be punished for their children's crimes at my school. It's wrong but even though I see the arguement this way I kind of think it depends on the situation too.
Yeah I agree
It really depends. A kid becomes what they make themselves become, however parents are the ones that influence the kids. look at me, if my mom had kept me and my older sister, we might have been drug addicts with kids by now and im not even 17 yet. But since my grandparents raised me im an almost straight A student on the honor roll and due to be my class' valadictorian. But if I was raised by my mom I might have turned out close to what I am now. It depends on what the kid themselves are like.
Thats very true. I do see both sides and think it does depend to but I'm leaning towards the no side.
It really depends. If you raised a child well, they wouldn't do something wrong, but some people just don't learn.
Exactly. Good point.
I think they should. They allowed the child to leave the house that way and they are responsible for them. The parents need to start cracking down on their kids. If they don't they are reliable for what happens to them. So yes parents should.
Thats a good point but I disagree. Kids could also be influenced by anyone around them. In school perhaps. It could be peer pressure of their so called friends to do bad things.
But they learn that from there parents too.
Absolutely not. You can't blame somebody for another person's actions. You can teach somebody something but you can't make them do it. And we are all human and make mistakes. Like my mom thought me to control my temper (well she attempted too) but it isn't her fault when I don't because she isn't me. I am responsible for my own actions and mistakes, nobody else is including my parents.
I agree. I did this debate recently in my school. I went with the no side too.
No, it isn't the parents fault if their kid steals, on the other hand, maybe if parents disciplined their kids, things like that wouldn't happen.
I completley agree. I kinda see both points of view but then again one person can't control another persons actions.
