Yes if you get labs done you have to so ya.
I fast quite often but I never actually mean to do it, I just don't...eat
On Yom Kippur once I turn 13.
I am jewish, so on Yom Kippur (a fasting holiday) I fast
for a month//its in my religion to fast..so i fast
In my Methodist denomination, we fast every Friday from 12 in the morning to 12 in the arvo.......Well, excluding me who can't give up food for one day!!!!!!! But ill try when im like.....18....or something....
For me, it's no meat or dairy (and only one day of fish) for fifty days before Pascha. (Easter) The same for the forty days before Christmas, except for that fast we get a few more days of fish. No meat or dairy on every normal Wednesday, Friday and Saturday. But the Saturday fast is for preparation for when we have Communion Sunday morning. (Also, absolutely nothing, including water, for Sunday morning until after Communion) there's also the Apostles Fast in summer, but the length of it varies.
I'm a Catholic and every lent I give up something new. I think it's a great symbol of the religion after all Jesus did for us. I gave up chocolate for 40 days (and I didn't even eat any on St.Patricks day!) and on Easter I guzzled all the chocolate. After you get used to it, it gets quite easy and you seem like a hero for doing nearly nothing. :)
Once I went through a Christian phase and decided to give up chocolate. I gave up on Day Two.
I have avoided eating before but it has not been because of any religous beliefs ;P
Fasting doesn't have to be tied to religious reasons, you know.
Yeah, I know, but there are religions were people do fast...
That's just the first thing that comes to my mind whenever I hear about fasting.
