I don't really believe in surgery...
Haha, you want to force teens to lose weight...
What the F America?
You're not only making them focus on their weight insetad of homework but you also want to tell them that they're no good enough?
As long as they're healthy, why bother?
i think that its there decision i have been over weight and its really hard to go back to ur normal weight its not as easy as excerise and eating healthy u feel discouraged sometimes bcuz the scale just not goin down i think the band would help bcuz soon there gonna get use to the habits of gettin full sooner and wont eat as much i lost my wieght but i still have the same erge for food
There are ways to eat smaller potions without resorting to the gastric band.
Smaller plates are a good example. so you can fill the smaller plate, be eating less, but still make it seem like you're eating a full amount.
There are plenty of other tricks like that, and support systems all over the place.
I think they should learn to eat right and exercise, not surgery, because they could go ahead and get fat again, because they wouldn't exactly care, plus its expensive.
send 'em all to fat camp XP
lmao I agree
no. as someone said above the gastric bands make your stomach seem smaller so eat less, which is basically starving yourself. All that will do is slow down your metabolism more and your body will store the fat that's in foods they eat. I'm a teen and i know i don't eat healthy all the time so why would overwieght teens eat healthy? losing weight naturally is best. Also sometimes it's not a persons fault that they're overweight. genetics play a huge role in determining that.
actually ur stomach will get full faster ull digest that and then ull eat more.....so ur metabolism is getin faster on smaller meals......
Only if someone's learned how to eat smaller portions and more often does it work that way, Pokadotdream. People getting the gastric band most likely have not learned how to eat that way. So their metabolism is usually low.
Gastric bands shouldn't be used if all one wants to do is eat smaller portions.
They're unnecessary and risky.
@pokadotdream that is the idea of what is supposed to happen, because the people who are supposed to get them are adults with no better option & who are serious enough about losing weight to eat healthier. gastric bands only work if you eat healthy.. im not saying teens dont eat healthy but they might think since they will get full faster that its ok to eat junk. also there are so many risks to go along with the surgery, my old teacher knew someone who got it & died from it.
An absolute last resort.
i think it would be a good idea for the very end after simple exercise and eating well.
i think it would be a good idea for the very end
gastric bands aren't good for anybody.
They make it so you starve yourself, which won't help lose weight, contrary to popular belief.
Overweight teens who want to lose the weight should be encouraged and and supported to do it a healthy way.
